“Amy was dancing and singing to the music and realized she was being noticed by members of the audience. Out of respect for Damian and Nas, she leaned up against the speaker and closed her eyes for a bit and took the music in. Super sweet and super talented woman. She will be missed. RIP” Photo + quote: B+

Word to Marc…
While I was cracking away at this Summer Solstice mix to get out of the heat, I came across the classic East NY Theory instrumental and it needed some new spit to revive it like a dusty pair of kicks. Willie “One Take” Maze took it from there. I goofed off at the end, since no one’s prolly gonna play the ad-lib-out part of it. Maybe I’ll have the good sense to pay it proper Pro-tools attention if it gets enough love. Enjoy!
Ps. I laughed for about 15 minutes while i made those graphics. Suga T!
Don’t Say I neva gave yall nuffin!!!
Dream TDK x NVR OVR shirt for Dream Day 11
I made this shirt to honor Oakland’s rebel art king, Mike “Dream” Francisco. It’s a photograph I took of him when we were painting on a rainy night in the Lake Merrit tunnels that go under a busy street between the Lake and the Convention Center/Laney College. Mike was central to Bay Area street culture, universally respected, and his art strongly defined the aesthetic of Oakland rap/dj music culture. Mike Dream was tragically murdered in February of 2000. The week of his passing, we throw a huge memorial hip hop event in his honor to keep his legacy alive for his son, who wasn’t a year old when he was taken.
I could go on for days, infact, we’re writing a book that we hoped would be out by now, but stay tuned. In the meantime, we’re selling these shirts to continue raising scrilla for Dream’s son Akil, and toward the book effort. Holler at me thru these various means, we’ll work out payment and delivery. Going hand to hand in true Town Biz style, unless you wanna go to District, my favorite shop in Mike’s hometown of Alameda.
